NCFE CACHE Level 3 Award in Preparing to Work in Home Based Childcare (QCF)

This qualification prepares learners to set up a home based childcare setting. It is also suitable for learners who wish to be employed in home based childcare settings as childminding assistants or other home childcarers (e.g. nannies, au pairs). Learners should be at least 16 years old.

Qualification structure and assessment
Unit 1 – Provides learners with the knowledge required to work with children in a home based childcare setting.

Unit 2 – Prepares learners to set up a home based childcare business.

This is a knowledge-only qualification; therefore, no placement in a real work environment in required. This qualification will be internally assessed using a range of assessment methods. This could include a portfolio of evidence, written assignments or a task set by NCFE CACHE. It usually take learners up to six months to complete.

Progression Route

Although it does not provide direct progression, the subjects covered in this Award make a useful introduction to NCFE CACHE’s Early Years Educator qualifications.
